Design and Build in Notting Hill

Notting Hill's stucco crescents and communal gardens - the Ladbroke estate's great arcs around Stanley Crescent, Lansdowne Road and Elgin Crescent - hide some of London's most ambitious private homes. Albyns built one of the most ambitious of all.

Our Notting Hill commission was the complete redesign and rebuild of a substantial home of over 30,000 square feet: a traditional London exterior wrapping classical upper floors above lower, contemporary levels. A triple-level basement excavation houses a 25-metre swimming pool, spa and gym complex, a private cinema and a party room, served by a car lift and passenger lift, with nine en-suite bedrooms above. Each room was briefed individually, drawing on a considered material palette throughout - designed, built and project-managed in-house from concept to completion.

The engineering required to excavate three levels beneath an occupied prime London plot is the deepest end of residential construction, and it is work we carry out with our own long-standing team - structural co-ordination, party wall matters and planning consents included.

Notting Hill sits within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, its conservation areas and communal-garden settings closely protected. We advise early on what the borough will approve - for owners planning works, and for buyers deciding whether a W11 house can become what they need.
